New Youtube video

Well, I have been trying to figure out all the gadgetry to make more MPSS instructional videos, and Nick has been too busy with college to help out. So I recruited the nearest available talent. Tell me what you think of Emily's "Autumn Olive Fruit Leather" video. It is the first mpss production without the amazing talent of Mal and Nick.

Trail Side Nibbles

I wanted a space where folks could post things that they have gathered from workshops, schools, or really cool experiences. For instance, Mal and Nick just came back from the desert. While they are both well rounded, I'm sure there were moments, or skills that really touched each of them. This area could be for those "gems" that really spoke to you from recent, or even past experiences. All too often I tell folks, beg them, to share with the rest of the community what they have experienced. Now… Continue

Ira is a dad!

Man! I can't believe how overwhelmingly happy I am for Ira and Kristen! It seems I've been waiting for this event for years. I'm so proud of this new family, and I don't even know where it is coming from. This overwhelming wellspring of love and joy for Ira's family is...amazing. Anyway, in case you didn't know, a healthy baby girl has joined the world and our community. That makes me AN UNCLE! I'm an Uncle! Wow, I'm Ira's kids Uncle! Folks, this is great. Oh my gosh, I gotta do stuff! I don't e… Continue

Empowering Healthy Archetypes

The knowledge that simply bringing folks outside can profoundly influence growth, learning, creativity and memory will undoubtedly influence teaching strategies in a positive way, but caution must be used. Even with all of the tools of the invisible school in place, the results can shake a community as human potential is unleashed and fully realized. This is in stark contrast to systems that currently subdue this potential for the sake of order and efficiency. The warning comes as we realize tha… Continue

The Power and Risks of Mentoring

In the cold darkness of the Pine Barrens, I sat shivering on the dock as the Aquatics Director tried to drive home the seriousness of being a life guard. He was a huge man compared to my then wiry 160 pound frame. The bunch of us, all sixteen and feeling elite as staff members, had snuck out after hours for a night swim. The lake was an old cranberry bog, but it was unusually deep near the center. The dock we were on was old and rickety, and the tannic acid water, already ice tea colored during… Continue

In the top right of your screen, where you have your little menu, it says your name with Inbox, Alerts, Friends, etc. Below that is a box that says "quick add." Click the down arrow in the corner of that bar, and one of the options is "video."

Happy to be on here, overloading the servers with pictures! I only uploaded one video, though... I do have more. I have three of people slacklining (two of Trey and one of Arthur, with varying success) and one of Mark (and Tim?) cutting down an ash tree. Not very educational in any respects.

Regardless, nice to be here.

Mike,
All is very well, I hope all is well with you sir. Thank you so much for the magnets, I got them and they are beautiful... and I will club the next person who tries to take the from me... not really, but I wont be impressed.

Right now, its a 50-50% chance if I am going to the fair or not, depends on if Nick gets back to me about teaching cordage there or not... Im planning on going some how.

Thats awesome. How long is he coming up for? Does he have a place to stay? Can I show him our gardens, my house, etc? I swear on my cat I'll be a good role model while he is around. Can I use him as a plant during the six friction fire workshops I am teaching?

hope you are well
