Candi, I would love it if you would not only read and own my books, but supply comments and even a published review. I am mildly allergic to wheat and would be very interested in good cookies without wheat or white flour in them. Things with fruit in them sound good. I am up to my ears in unfinished bows, and I know how much energy goes into preparing basketry materials, not only that I love pounding logs myself. I am looking for a fresh ash log, but i don't want to have to drive a long way to get it. I know we will keep on talking and find lots of things to trade over time.

Jeff, I'd be very interested in reading both of your books especially the children's game book. I don't have to keep them but wouldn't mind doing that as well. I know we are sending some fibers but what else can we barter for. We have basket making supplies, bow staves, black walnut ink, computer/graphic design skills, handcrafted food, strawberry rhubarb pie. I'll add more as it comes to me.

Hi Arthur,
I'd be interested in some good quality Coxsackie chert. I need to make small blades (about 2"x1") for drill bit blanks, so something that will make a good blade core. What would you like for it?

Jeff,

I have Georgetown Blue (from Texas), Novaculite (from Arkansas), Coxsackie Chert (from New York), and Kineo Rhyolite (from Maine).

Mike, is the small dog a tasty variety?
Mike Comment by Mike on February 23, 2009 at 7:44pm
I have three minions of chaos and a small dog if anyone has knappable chert or a grain mill.

Don't forget we can post discussions to keep our trades separated for easier reading in the future.

Arthur, what kind of chert do you have?
Jeff Gottlieb Comment by Jeff Gottlieb on February 20, 2009 at 5:50pm
I have dogbane, knappable quartz and quartzite cobbles, tulip tree bark berry baskets (custom sizes and shapes), cornhusk dolls (w/buckskin dresses), used books, collectible knives, red ocher paint rocks, various flint points and blades, soapstone, flint tipped hand drills, deer hooves and dew claws (cleaned), clay marbles, deer leg sinew, and copies of my two books, Teaching Primitive Skills to Children, and Wigwam (a how-to manual). I need cordage fibers for an exhibit, tanned hair-on hides of groundhog, red squirrel, gray fox and possum, and chert suitable for blade cores, to start with. Or maybe something else interesting you might propose.

This morning we got up to go pick up some groceries, and as we were getting in the car, we both see an ENORMOUS bird fly across the road and around the back of the house, where it disappeared. We drove around the side of the house, and in the willow…
